Jon told me he is internetless.
He said the roof metalwork is pretty much done.
He is going to prime and hammer out a few dents on the roof.

Then he has wheelwells and cargo door inners left.

I will have him text me some pictures to post.

this is almost to my liking now, carlton's arm let me borrow his stud welder and slide hammer. the weld had kind of warped/sunken in some and now i'm pulling it up.

ricekooker wrote:Awesome work! What are those square clamp things called and where do you get them?

intergrip panel clamps, i think. i got mine at harbor freight. they are 5 dollars for 8 there. or you can get them from eastwood, 30 dollars for 4...

i like them and don't like them at the same time. they are fancy and hold everything together nicely, but in my opinion it leaves too much of a gap where you have to weld. i didn't use them at all on the second piece and it worked out better as i was able to make the piece fit very tight. but they're worth a try.

58OnlyDecklid wrote:See.... once you get all of this done, you'll be able to fix my little itty bitty hole in my roof in about 15 minutes. :-D

don't you need a whole new roof? :)

I took a few of mine and hit the piece that sets the gap with a soft pad sanding disc to thin them out some for the same reason. I was going to do all of them but it was a pita so I only did a few. I don't use them much either but there are times when they work great. I got mine off ebay - $20 for 12 or something like that.

Bus is looking great!! Good work.

the driver side wheel well after removing everything, and the strip on the back side, was not usable due to the gap i would have had to weld up.
Image
so i got another one.
Image
traced the old one, then put a piece of one inch tape around the edge, cut it out and trimmed it to size very carefully.
Image

welded it in this afternoon.
Image

Image
Image

also made this piece where when they were cut out, the dumb person cut into the flange.

It is/was mostly og paint.
I suspected the wheelwells had been replaced when I bought it.
When I got the bus it was obvious they had been.

The po replaced the wheelwells and brushed paint over them.
Before I did the logos we sanded off the brushed paint and Robert matched and resprayed the wheelwells.

Unfortunately when he brushed paint over the wheelwells he also brushed paint over any thin areas of paint.

So now that a lot more of the paint is thin and or primer it looks kinda goofy where te paint was brushed on.

Jon and I are working on a few things to make these spots look more natural.

Darrell……wait till you see how much primer is showing through on it now.
